Performance at Lasata Senior Living CenterThursday, September 26th – Lasata Senior Living Center in Cedarburg. We have been very fortunate this year to have been asked to danced at quite a few Senior Living Centers. These performances are GREAT! As put by one of our students, “it is great we are doing this, I can remember when my mom’s friend was in the home, these shows were the highlight of her week!” While some people living in these centers are not able to dance anymore they enjoy watching dancing and it brings back memories of times when they danced. We are very lucky to have a group of students that help us out with these events. If you are an amateur couple and would like to volunteer to dance at events like this please feel free to contact our events coordinator Kim at kims@fredastaire.com.

This is a great cause. Food drives greatly help Feeding America of Eastern Wisconsin (formerly known as Second Harvest) provide food and supplies to over 1,000 agencies around the area. Please get creative and see if there is any way you can gather more food from your friends, family, school, neighborhood… we will have bins in the reception area throughout that entire week ready for donations.

Dance Classes at New Perspectives Tuesday, October 15th – Senior Classes at New Perspectives Senior Living | Light House of West Bend. We have been chosen to be a part of a pilot program at New Perspectives where we come in and teach 40-45 minute classes to their residents. We have performed at New Perspectives before and in talking to their Director of Life Engagement we started talking about all the wonderful benefits ballroom dancing has for seniors a few of which include: mental stimulation (helping to delay onset of Alzheimer’s), exercise, lateral movement (good for hips), touch, comradely, fun and excitement… and that is only the beginning. Once we have established the pilot program our lesson plan will be sent to other locations where they too will be implementing these classes.
